Interpreter – Spanish/English 

Local health organization is looking for a Spanish/English Interpreter. The Spanish/English Interpreter will be responsible for direct interpretation in all clinic program areas, translation of written materials, and coordination of other interpreting needs. 

Pay:  $16.50/hour Non-certified medical interpreter; $17.50/hour if certified medical interpreter

Interpreter Job Responsibilities: 

• Provide direct interpretation as needed in various areas of the clinic 

• Coordinate additional interpreting services as needed 

• Assist provider and patients with cross-cultural/cultural sensitivity awareness 

• Translate written materials 

• Assist in development and implementation of formal relationships with community organizations to coordinate services 

• Participate in workshops and training meeting to further knowledge and skills 

Interpreter Job Requirements: 

• Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) written and verbal communication skills 

• Medical terminology 

• Possess strong customer service skills 

• Ability to memorize multiple phrases at a time while provider or patient are speaking to interpret exactly what is being said 

• Translate written text from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English 

• Previous interpreting experience preferred, particularly in a health care setting 

• Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint 

• Ability to work with minimum/no supervision 

Interpreter Education Requirements: 

• High School diploma or equivalent required 

• Prefer completion of Bridging the Gap Interpreting training course or equivalent
