Interpreter – Spanish/English
 
Local health organization is looking for a Spanish/English Interpreter. The Spanish/English Interpreter will be responsible for direct interpretation in all clinic program areas, translation of written materials, and coordination of other interpreting needs.
 
Pay:  $16.50/hour Non-certified medical interpreter; $17.50/hour if certified medical interpreter
 
Interpreter Job Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpretation as needed in various areas of the clinic
Coordinate additional interpreting services as needed
Assist provider and patients with cross-cultural/cultural sensitivity awareness
Translate written materials
Assist in development and implementation of formal relationships with community organizations to coordinate services
Participate in workshops and training meeting to further knowledge and skills
 
Interpreter Job Requirements:
Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) written and verbal communication skills
Medical terminology
Possess strong customer service skills
Ability to memorize multiple phrases at a time while provider or patient are speaking to interpret exactly what is being said
Translate written text from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English
Previous interpreting experience preferred, particularly in a health care setting
Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to work with minimum/no supervision
 
Interpreter Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Prefer completion of Bridging the Gap Interpreting training course or equivalent
