Local Health Organization is Looking for a Spanish Interpreter! This is a temp to hire opportunity located in Rockford, IL.
POSITION SUMMARY:The Spanish Interpreter is responsible for direct interpreting in all clinic program areas, translations of written materials, and coordination of other interpreting needs.
Schedule: M, T, Th, F 8:30am – 5pm W 8:30am – 8pm. Rotating Saturday 8am-12pm.Pay: Not certified starts at $16.61. A certified interpreter starts at $17.61.
SPANISH INTERPRETER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Establishes, maintains and promotes a positive working relationship with internal and external customers in support of clinical goals and objectives.
  2. Provide direct interpretation as needed in various areas of the clinic.
  3. Coordinate additional interpreting services as needed.
  4. Assist provider and patients with cross-cultural/cultural sensitivity awareness.
  5. Translate written materials.
  6. Assist in development and implementation of formal relationships with community organization to coordinate services.
  7. Participation in workshops and training meetings to further knowledge and skills.
SPANISH INTERPRETER JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) written and verbal communication skills (Will be tested)
  2. Medical terminology
Ability to:
  1. Memorize multiple phrases at a time while provider or patient are speaking in order to interpret exactly what is being said
  2. Translate written text from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English
Education:High school diploma or equivalent requiredPrefer completion of Bridging the Gap Interpreting training course or equivalent.
Experience:
  1. Previous interpreting experience preferred, particularly in a health care setting
  2. Computer skills
