Health & Safety Coach, Child Care Assistance Program
FurstStaffing has a unique opportunity for a Health & Safety Coach at the YWCA Northwestern Illinois location. The Health and Safety Coach is responsible for scheduling and conducting on-site visits to License Exempt (LE) childcare providers and assisting with Health and Safety requirements for LE providers. As a Health and Safety Coach you will be an active participant in the welfare of our community by helping to provide healthy and safe childcare settings. This is a Furst-to-Hire opportunity.
Hours: 8am to 4:30pm, M-F
Pay: $17.50/hour
Health & Safety Coach Responsibilities:
- Identify health and safety violations in LE childcare settings and as needed, develop a Corrective Action Plan and schedule follow up visits
- Work with the LE provider community to enhance the quality of care being provided in the childcare setting
- Maintain files and enter LE Provider information into software programs
- Report abuse/neglect and illegal childcare operations
- Assisting LE childcare providers with completion of online trainings
- Research, gather, and track data for health, safety, and child development
- Observe reporting requirements and meet deadlines
- Schedule visits, plan upcoming training, and communicate with providers
- Provide basic technical assistance to childcare providers on issues related to Health, Safety and Child Development training requirements
- Stay current with new policy changes and updates
- Preserve confidentiality of program, client, and provider information
- Be willing to participate in continuing education activities
- Communicate with impartiality and respect for all parents’/guardians’ childcare choices
- Speak to the purpose and services of the Child Care Assistance program
- Respond with sensitivity to families’ socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, individual needs and capabilities
Health & Safety Coach Minimum Job Requirements:
- Possess an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent education and/or experience in social work, customer service, data entry or related field
- Strong problem solving and analytic skills
- Technical proficiency with a personal computer and various software packages
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to lift 30 pounds, sit, stand, bend, and twist
- Able to type at least 30 words per minute
- Ability to work with a team, or independently
- Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
- Must be able to clear a comprehensive background check
