Family Support Worker
FurstStaffing has a rewarding opportunity for a Family Support Worker to help families in our region! The Family Support Worker is a Furst-to-Hire position at a well-established community service organization.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am to 4:30pm
Pay: $17.53/hour, increased to $18.03 once hired in
Family Support Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized services to improve the perinatal health of mothers and babies, including emotional attachment, labor and delivery support and infant nurturing
- Provide culturally appropriate services
- Educate families on developmental stages and administer developmental screenings
- Encourage positive interactions between mother and child and extended family members
- Support and encourage breastfeeding; educate participants on contraceptive options
- Assure medical compliance with routine health care and timely immunizations
- Assist participants in developing a support system and setting personal and educational goals
- Accurately document visits and outcomes on a timely basis
- Community outreach
- Regular attendance at staff meetings and required trainings
Family Support Worker Requirements:
- Previous experience working with diverse populations
- Experience working with families, adolescents, and infants/children
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Willing to obtain and document a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional development annually
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree or High school diploma with experience in the field
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Current Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
