Early Childhood Quality Specialist
We have a Furst-to-Hire position with a national community service, working in their local Rockford office. This position holds a lot of responsibility, including acting as the main point of contact for childcare providers in a four-county region. In this role, you will work as part of the Child Care Resource and Referral team to improve the quality of early childcare by providing consultation services, technical assistance and training to assist childcare providers in achieving or maintaining an ExceleRate Circle of Quality.
Hours: 8am to 4:30pm M-F, with occasional evening or weekend meetings or events
Pay: $22.50/hour as a Furststaffing employee, will increase to $23/hr when hired in.
Early Childhood Quality Specialist Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to providers who are involved with ExceleRate Illinois QRIS or have expressed an interest in QRIS and need support at different stages in the process
- Offer resources and information to childcare providers in person, via phone and/or email
- Provide training, technical assistance, reflective practice, and consultation
- Work in partnership with providers and other specialists to assess and identify a program’s needs and concerns
- Maintain documentation of the contract activities through a specified data recording system
- Attend workdays, meetings, events, etc. required for the position, which may include an occasional evening or weekend
- Work with consultant team members in providing resources, referrals and guidance to providers related to improving quality
- Attend required/regular training and meetings
- Participate in community activities including community events, media campaigns, promotional materials, and community presentations
- Participate in staff meetings
- Communicate with impartiality and respect all parents’/guardians’ childcare choices
Early Childhood Quality Specialist Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR one of these related fields: Child Psychology/Behavioral Sciences, Family Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Elementary Education, Child Welfare, Family Services, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development including a minimum of 18 hours in Early Childhood coursework.
- Minimum two (2) years of paid experience in a childcare setting as a family childcare provider, center- based administrator, center-based teacher/teacher assistant or Illinois Preschool for All teacher
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication; tactful interpersonal skills required
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Possess a valid drivers license due to occasional statewide travel
- Respond with sensitivity to families’ socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities
- Upon hire, Early Childhood Quality Specialists receive training on specific classroom and program assessment tools to be used when working with childcare providers
