Bilingual Community Navigator
Join a community-minded organization as their Bilingual Community Navigator and assist newcomers to Winnebago and surrounding counties. This is an exciting Furst-to-Hire opportunity that involves local travel throughout Northwest Illinois.
Pay: $17.50/hour increase upon hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Community Navigator Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach to the immigrant and refugee community about the availability of public benefits and other services.
- Plan and build alliances with organizations in NW counties.
- Provide accurate translation for immigrants who have difficulty communicating with the IL Dept of Human Services and other agencies.
- Complete assessments to determine client eligibility.
- Maintain database and client files.
- Provide follow-up on open cases with the state and other services.
- Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
Community Navigator Requirements:
- Associate degree in Human Services or related field and at least four years’ experience.
- Bilingual
- Ability to commute and co-locate in offices in Ogle, Winnebago, and other northwestern counties.
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Current driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance.
