Job Description
Local church in Rockford is looking for a Leader and Coordinator of Music and Worship Arts for contemporary and traditional church music. This is a part-time position, requiring 20 hours per week. Hours could grow as the church’s needs grow. The Leader and Coordinator of Music and Worship Arts will work with the Pastor and staff to coordinate the worship service and volunteers for the service. The Leader and Coordinator of Music and Worship Arts will select the service music and lead the praise band. They will work with the choir leader coordinating vocals and instrumentation. Hours: Some flexibility, but there are some required times throughout the week
- Tuesday morning staff meetings
- Tuesday evening practice from 6pm to 8pm
- Sunday mornings for two services, 8am through the 10:15am service
- Collaborate with Pastors and church staff to develop and implement a vision for music and worship arts
- Attend weekly meetings and rehearsals; attend monthly council meetings
- Lead the congregation, musicians, and vocalists in music
- Assist with coordinating and planning the weekly service and special services during the year
- Maintain schedules for audio, visual and video tech teams
- Develop and coordinate a team to decorate the sanctuary for each sermon series, special services, and holidays
- Recruit volunteers for music and worship arts ministries
- Maintain music library, master list record, and music team binders
- Order new music and ensure compliance with copyright laws
- Attend at least one worship leader seminar or conference annually
- Collaborate with Communications Coordinator to promote vision of music and worship arts on church website, social media, traditional media, church newsletter, worship folder, etc.
- Maintain the Worship Arts budget
- Work with the Senior Pastor to develop and implement a strategy for outreach
- Must support traditional and modern forms of musical expression
- Must play a lead instrument (guitar, piano, keyboards) and sing lead
- Must be a team player and demonstrate flexibility
- Experience and skills in recruiting, mentoring and empowering volunteers of all ages
- Excellent at planning, organizing and follow-through
- At least 2 years of worship leading experience preferred
- Experience and competence using Microsoft 365 Business apps, Google Workspace apps, social media apps, and church presentation software
- Experience and competence with sound and media technologies is a plus
